Simulation methodology of infrared missiles engagements

The increasing technological development of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) demands, increasingly, the development of techniques that allow the evaluation and prediction of the performance of complex systems. In this context, the present work proposes a simulation model for infrared missile engagements, using a virtual scenario whose characteristics correspond to radiometric parameters. As a case study, the infrared signature model of a Boeing 737 aircraft is presented in multiple bands of interest, in the infrared spectrum. In addition, 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation seekers models have been studied and presented. Finally, processes of integrating the virtual reality scenario with the missile dynamics and infrared countermeasures were described.
